Annette M. Hendricks is a fiber artist from the Chicagoland area. She received her artistic training from Northern Illinois University in 1986, where she received a bachelor degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. She went on to teach art education at both the high school and the elementary levels. In 1989, when she had the first of her three daughters, she took a break from teaching and lectures, but never from her love of art. She continued to draw, paint and explore many avenues in the art world; until finally discovering a media in which she could utilize her love of drawing and painting with the tactile desires of quilting.

Annette credits her success to mixing her own understanding of color, fabric, and design with the benefits of collaboration and mentorships with other quilt artists. Lecture, discussion, project collaboration, and community through guilds and friendships all have encouraged her to hone her quilting skills and share her art with the world. From local events to international competitions, Annette’s early quilt inspirations brought her publications in multiple AQS ‘Quilt Art’ calendars and a 1st place 2005 win of the prestigious ‘Husqvarna Gallery of Art’ with her quilt “O’Keeffe at Ghost Ranch”. Since then, Annette has entered many international competitions winning awards such as Best of Show and 1st Place awards in the Miami International Orchid Show, Best Machine Workmanship Award in the 2006 Pacific International Quilt Show, 1st Place in the 2006 IQA’s World of Beauty Quilt Show Portraits category, and a double win at IQA’s 2007 World of Beauty Quilt Show with her quilts “Ladies of the Louvre” and “The Three Sisters”.
